BBQ Bacon Burger (High-Protein)
An American BBQ bacon burger built for high protein, pairing a lean seared beef patty with crisp bacon, melted cheddar, and smoky barbecue sauce inside a whole wheat bun. Black beans folded into the patty lift fibre and protein while keeping fat controlled. Served with tomato, red onion, and lettuce.

Instructions
1
Prep
Mash the black beans with a fork, fold in the ground beef, salt, and pepper, then form one patty about 1cm thick.
2
Fry
Cook the bacon in a dry skillet over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes, turning once, until the fat renders and the strip is crisp.
3
Sear
Add the vegetable oil to the same skillet over medium-high heat and sear the patty 3 to 4 minutes per side until a dark crust forms and the centre reaches 71C.
4
Melt
Lay the cheddar over the patty, drop the heat to low and cover the skillet for 1 minute until the cheese slumps, then toast the cut whole wheat bun faces until golden.
5
Plate
Rest the patty 5 minutes, spread barbecue sauce on the bun, layer lettuce, sliced tomato and onion, add patty and bacon, then cap and serve.
